I used to spend a lot of money on Amazon, but once I found out you can buy beautiful house plants from Amazon is when I realized I may have a problem.
When it comes to flowers, I can never seem to keep them alive for more than a couple of days (my boyfriend stopped giving me flowers for this reason). But when it comes to plants, I’ll take care of them better than I take care of myself!
Growing up my mother always had so many indoor plants that it started to look like the Amazon rain forest, and I was living for it.
Plants were always on my “shopping list” for my apartment but I never went out of the way to buy any. I’m sure like many people, quarantine has made me take on a bunch of house DIY projects from organizing every closet to redecorating the bedrooms. Thanks to Amazon I was able to do all that without stepping foot outside of my home.
While scrolling for office decor, I came across some artificial plants for the office (I purchased a bunch of office necessities from Amazon and shared it in a post you can find here) then kept scrolling and saw live plants. I knew Amazon had everything but LIVE plants too?
I bought a live house plant from Amazon just for the hell of it to see how they would package it and deliver it. Honestly, I thought I was going to be scammed and receive an artificial one, or it was going to come all broken up.
When I received my plant in perfect condition just a few days after ordering, that was the beginning of my downfall. I wanted to order every house plant from Amazon I could find.
From then I ordered plants for every corner of the apartment along with beautiful planters for them. I put together this post for those who want to add a little greenery to their lives and looking for afforable ways to decorate their homes.
Here are my favorite house plants from Amazon.

White Birds of Paradise
I’m going to start this post with my favorite house plant I got from Amazon. I love love loveeeee this one so much, it’s the first to be shown off to any guests we have over. I originally wanted a super tall one in a sleek modern pot that I’ve seen in celebrity homes, but sadly this little guy is only 3 feet tall. This plant got lost in transit and got here later than expected, but arrived in great condition with not one broken leaf. Since then it’s been thriving and growing new leaves. The one I originally got is out of stock but I’ve found another similar plant you can check out HERE.
Pothos
Second plant on my best house plants from Amazon list is the Pothos. This plant is easy to take care of, grows quickly and is perfect for hanging. When I bought this plant it came nicely packaged and with only 1 leaf broken which wasn’t a deal breaker for me.
I originally had it hanging in our kitchen and decided I wanted to have one hanging in our bedroom as well. Instead of buying another plant, I just split the one I had in half and potted it in a separate planter. At first I was terrified that I had ruined my plant because it looked so much smaller as two separate ones. Within a week they almost doubled in size and now look beautiful.
Pothos are super easy to propagate especially if you are a newbie to taking care of plants. Once they grow a little bigger I plan on doing the same to get more plants out of it! You can find the pothos plant I purchased HERE.
Ponytail Palm
The easiest plant to take care of- I can’t imagine how anyone could kill this one. I’ve never had an issue with American Plant Exchange, and like every other plant I’ve ordered from them this one was no different. My ponytail palm came beautifully packaged, was well rooted and healthy. I leave this plant on a window sill and only water it once a week. Sometimes I forget to water it because our window is so high up but it’s still thriving. This hose plant from Amazon is the perfect plant for starters. You can find my ponytail palm HERE.
Majesty Palm
I only had one issue with Costa Farms (my white birds of paradise was from them) but it ended up being resolved in my favor. My plant got lost in transit after changing the delivery date on me 3 times and when I called Amazon about it, they told me it was lot in transit and that they would refund me the money. A week goes by and my plant got delivered to me- so it was never really “lost in transit”. Not sure how that happened but I got a free plant out of it and it’s gorgeous.
This is the second plant I got from Costa Farms on Amazon and my experience was nothing like the first plant. It arrived right on time well packaged and with no breakage. I ended up giving this plant to my dad, but once I find a perfect spot for it in my home I will definitely be repurchasing. You can find this house plant from Amazon HERE.
Calathea Medallion Peacock
I bought this plant to add some bold colors at home and the purple was just perfect. Again from American Plant Exchange on Amazon, this house plant was delivered perfectly and has been growing since I got it. This plant is also easy to take care of and when you shine it’s leaves, it almost looks fake from how pretty it looks. You can find this plant HERE.
Monstera
My second favorite plant. I love the beach and love going to anywhere tropical, so this plant was a must. The leaves of this plant is the typical “tropical leaf” you will find when you google it, and although I have yet to experience it, the plant does product fruit. The fruit is long and is said to taste like fruit salad. Again, this plant is easy to take care of and came well packaged as well. You can find this plant HERE.
English Ivy
I wish I had taken better care of this plant because it’s really pretty. Another plant from the American Plant Exchange on Amazon that came nicely packaged. Although my plant was smaller than in the photo, I didn’t mind because I thought I could grow it like my other plants. Without looking up the care for this plant, I kept it in our bedroom where there wasn’t that much lighting. This plant NEEDS light. Sadly, I killed my plant but will definitely order another one to hang in our kitchen next to the window. You can find this plant HERE.
Calathea Rattlesnake
I haven’t ordered this plant yet but I already know I’ll love it. I’m not worried about how it will arrive because it’s from American Plant Exchange and they do a great job with packaging their house plants from Amazon. Like my other Calathea plant, I love the purple under the leaves and on this one I love the unique print on it. This plant is also easy to care for- only needs water once or twice a week and is best near a window that doesn’t have direct sunlight. You can find this plant HERE.
Snake Plant
I got this plant because it purifies the air, doens’t need sunlight and because my bathroom was looking a little bare without a plant. I love that this plant comes with a cute pot so you don’t have to re-pot it and careing for it is so easy. Keeping it in the bathroom not only makes the bathroom look nice, but it also makes it easy to water it with a sink right next to it. The only issue I had with this plant is that one of the leaves came broken. Out of the almost 2,000 reviews, not many people got a plant with a broken leaf, so It clearly wasn’t the farms fault that mine did. I would still recommend this plant to anyone looking to get a house plant from Amazon. You can find this plant HERE.
Zamioculcas Zamiifolia
We love this one so much we bought another bigger one from Lowes. We keep this plant on our coffee table and our larger one displayed in the corner of our living room. When we bought it the only one that was available was in a growers pot- so we had to purchase a pot for it. It now comes in a cute pot like our snake plant which I wish we could’ve gotten. Caring for this plant is easy as well, and it grows well in either artificial or natural lighting. If anyone is looking for an indoor Amazon plant that looks fake but is actually real I always recommend this one because it’s dark leaves are shiny and look waxy. You can find this plant HERE.
Along with these 10 plants, I also purchased some plant accessories you can use with theses plants.
While looking for a hanging planter for my pothos plant, I found this macrame hanging planter with beads and decided to give it a try. Sadly, this hanger doesn’t come with the hooks for the wall/ceiling to hang it on so you would have to buy them separately. Otherwise I love this planter.
I bought these white plant pots for my smaller plants and they fit perfectly with my hanging planter. Although they’re made of plastic, the outside ridges makes it look expensive and hides the fact that it is plastic. It comes in a pack of 5 and has removable plugs making it easy to remove for drainage.
Another plant pot I got are these fiber stone ones for my larger plants. I originally wanted white ceramic pots but didn’t realize how much they cost until I started looking for one. I love these white fiber stone ones because they look like expensive ceramic pots but they’re half the price. These pots also come with plugs that make it easy to drain your plants and comes in 3 different sizes.
The last plant accessory I got was this wooden plant stand. I love this so much I just ordered two more. You can get this stand in 3 different colors and for 4 different plant sizes. The dark brown stand looks amazing with the white fiber stone pots.
People keep sleeping on house plants from Amazon but you can get some beautiful plants without even leaving the house. Thanks to quarantine, me and the Amazon delivery guy know each other on a first name basis (yea, that’s how much I order from there LOL).
