If you’re looking for the best curly hair products then I’m your girl because I’ve tried them ALL!
If you’re new to my blog, I shared a post on why I stopped using Deva Curl a few months ago. I’m not going to get into much detail about that in this post, but you get read more about my story HERE.
Since making the switch from Deva Curl I’ve tried many products and finally found some that are working wonders for my curls! I wanted to share some of my favorite curly hair products that worked for me in hopes it’ll work for you. Products range from all different prices, but majority are on the affordable side (we love to save $$!).
Best Curly Hair Products of 2021
Maui Moisture Shampoo & Conditioner
I’m so happy I found these products!! Shampoo and conditioner were the two things that were the most expensive out of all my hair products. After switching from Deva Curl I started using Briogeo which I loved and worked very well for my curls. Only downfall is that it’s a little expensive.
I purchased my Briogeo shampoo & conditioner from Amazon because it came in a larger container (conditioner currently unavailable) and it ended up being a little cheaper per ounce than from Sephora. Briogeo’s products still work well for my curls even though I don’t use it often, so I still repurchase it to use once in a while.
My go-to everyday shampoo & conditioner is the Maui Moisture Curl Quench. Not only is the product amazing, but it’s also super affordable and can be found in drugstores! What I love the most about these Maui Moisture products is that they’re vegan, paraben free, sulfate free & they feel silky like a luxurious shampoo/conditioner. I’ve recommended this item to a few friends with different curls and they all seem to be loving it!
Styling Products
After a wash, I style my hair with a few different products that I switch back and forth from. My favorite one out of all the products I use is the Renpure Coconut Leave-In Conditioner. It’s by far the best styling product for my curls. Again it’s on the affordable side, has safe ingredients, feels silky and smells amazing. I use this one every time I was my hair.
Other fav styling products I use are Garnier Fructis Curl Nourish leave-in conditioner, Cantu coconut curling cream, Bounce Curl light hold cream gel & Briogeo Curl Charisma.
Hair Masks
Once a week I like to give myself a hair mask to moisturize my curls and help with the frizziness. I used to use one I grew up using in Brazil (not sure what the ingredients are so don’t want to recommend it). I recently switched over to Maui Moisture’s Revive & Hydrate hair mask and have been absolutely loving it- it’s the only one I use!
The jar is smaller than the other mask I used to get but I find the price to be great for the results I’ve gotten! Each hair mask I do comes to about $4/each (I get 3 uses per container). Briogeo also has a great hair mask but in my opinion a little overpriced. It’s still works well, so If you want to splurge you should def try out their Don’t Despair, Repair mask!
I purchased this microwavable heat cap for my hair masks and not only does it feel amazing, it opens up your hair cuticles and helps penetrate the product deeper!
Other Fav’s
Other products that have helped with my curls significantly is the Denman Brush and a Wide Tooth Comb– it helps detangle without ripping out or pulling your hair.
I also started using microfiber hair towels to dry my hair because it’s more delicate on your curls than a regular towel. Another swap I made was my pillowcase for a silk pillowcase! Silk is not only gentle on your hair but also your skin- reducing the chances of getting frizzy hair or acne!
These are all the products I’ve been using to make my curly defined & hydrated. A side note: I also haven’t dyed my hair in YEARS and only apply heat (straighten/deffuse) once every other month which definitenly help with taking care of my curls.
Do you have any favorite products or special hair routine that’s been working for you? I’d love to try out new things!
