Baby Must Haves for Months 3-6

Baby Must Haves for Months 3-6

Happy Thursday! I’m back with some more baby must haves!

If you’re new here, I recently shared some of the things I couldn’t live without during my son’s first three months. You can find that post here.

My son Sebastian is already 8 months old. Why does time go by so fast???

With this post, I’m getting straight to the point. Here are 11 must have items you need to survive months 3-6 with your baby.

Sophie La Girafe

Well hello teeth!

Baby must have #1 is Sophie! I received Sophie as a gift and it really has helped with teething so much. Prior to using Sophie I used other teething toys like this one.

There are two types of Sophies; one with handles and one without. I personally like the one with handles because it’s easier for baby to hold, and there are so many different ways baby can chew on it. Each handle has different ridges satisfying baby’s gums two different ways, and they can also chew on her legs or head.

I throw ours in the freezer and give it to Sebastian when it’s cold. He LOVES it.

Bibs

Never realized how important these were until Sebastian started teething, or how many I would need.

When I was pregnant, I only bought a few bibs, no more than 7. I figured if I did laundry once a week, I’d have enough because why would a baby need more than 1 bib a day?

LOL

Once I saw how much drool was coming out of this kids’ mouth, I quickly purchased this pack of 10 from amazon.

These are my favorite, they’re easy to clean, is waterproof, and fits baby perfectly. Plus, you can get them in all white or in a pack of different colors- perfect to match with outfits!

Jumper

We received this jumper as a baby shower gift, but it wasn’t until Sebastian was 3 months old that we opened it.

Not only is a jumper great for baby to gain muscle in their legs, but also it gives you a chance to get things done around the house while they are playing in it. I found that Sebastian slept better at night after playing in his jumper.

Any jumper will do, but the one we have is this Fisher Price rain forest jumper and we LOVE it. There are so many toys on it that Sebastian never gets bored of playing in it. The height of it can also be adjusted, for when he gets a little taller.

He’s now 8 months and still loves this thing.

Wiggle and Crawl Ball

This one was a hammy down and the best one yet. The Vtech Wiggle & Crawl ball is the best thing to get baby to learn to crawl.

It’s an interactive ball that wiggles and wobbles on its own and it encourages your baby to chase after it. With over 40 different songs, sounds and happy phrases, it will keep your baby occupied for a while.

I introduced this toy to Sebastian when he was comfortable being on his belly and holding his head up high- around 4 months. He quickly learned how to do the army crawl and it’s all thanks to this toy. Def worth it!

Feeding Bibs

Along with getting the cloth bibs I mentioned earlier, these plastic-feeding bibs are also a baby must have.

Depending on when you start baby on solids (I know some people start at 4 months, some at 6), these make cleaning up so easy!

With just a wet paper towel you can easily get any food off the bib- no need to put them in the wash after every feed.

These bibs also have a little pouch to collect any food that falls meaning less of a cleanup on the floor!

Feeding Utensils

Along with feeding bibs, you’re also going to need spoons and bowls. I tried a few different spoons and the ones I like the most were these Munchkin ones.

With my son being in day care, I feel like I’m constantly losing spoons. These spoons are super cheap- a pack of 12 is less than $8! I also like that these spoons are soft, allowing my son to gnaw on them after feedings to relieve any gum discomfort. The size of these spoons are perfect as well, they’re not too big for baby where he’s struggling to fit it in his mouth, yet not too small where he’s getting frustrated.

Also from this brand, I got the stay put bowls. This pack comes with three different sized rubber bowls, all with a suction at the bottom. Since Sebastian can’t feed himself yet, I haven’t had the need to use the suction part as much, but I know once he does feed himself there’s less of a chance of the bowl falling over.  The price is great these bowls are also come in a variety of colors.

Baby Meal Containers

Am I the only one who oddly enjoys meal prepping my baby’s food? Nothing gets me more excited than giving Sebastian different foods to try.

I was online looking for containers to store my son’s food in because all of mine were too large. I wanted one that was small enough to fit a bunch in the freezer, but big enough to have food for one feeding.

I found this pack of 18 from amazon and believe every mom should have these! They’re very affordable- less than $20- and came with labels that fit the lids perfectly that you can write on. These containers are microwavable, freezer safe, dishwasher safe and don’t leak. They also come with different color lids if you want to prep different kinds of meals. Each container is 4 oz which was the standard amount of solids my son was eating per feeding at the time. This item is the first baby must have I tell every mama that she needs for her baby!

Bumbo Seat

I would say 94% of my son’s first 3 months were spent laying down. As soon as I saw he was able to hold his head up, I purchased this Bumbo seat.

This was great to help my son sit up and can be used everywhere. We used this in almost every room of the house, and because it was so light, we brought this around wherever we went. The best part is that its super easy to clean

Bumbo also has a feeding version of their seat. We use this every day.

Although we have a regular highchair, we like this Bumbo multi seat better because it fastens to a normal chair and makes it easier to have baby sit at the dinner table with us. Living in a small apartment, this feeding seat takes up less room than a traditional highchair and is easy to store away.

Night Soother

I’ve mentioned this in my previous Baby must haves post, but I’ll mention it on here as well.

At 3 months we transitioned Sebastian into his own bedroom and slowly started sleep training. Having a night soother playing the same music he was used to while sleeping in our room helped him a lot. And the star projection on the ceiling is very calming and serves as a great nightlight for when he is trying to fall asleep. This night soother is another MUST have- my son now goes to sleep as soon as we put him down in his crib with the music playing and has no issue sleeping in his own room.

Soft Books

Babies are so curious and want to touch and taste everything. Anything I give to my son goes straight to his mouth.

Reading to your baby is so beneficial for his cognitive growth, so we try to read to him before bed each night. He’s got a lot of regular books, but not having the best hand coordination, he’s always hitting himself with it.

We purchased a few soft books she he can play with it himself and get used to flipping through the pages. The one he loves the most is this Vtech one. It’s light where he can comfortably hold it and it’s interactive. This book plays many songs and each page has buttons that play a sound or phrase. I throw this book into our diaper bag and carry it everywhere. Plus, the way this book occupies him, this is a must have for car rides!

Interactive Swing

Also in my previous baby must haves post, I listed the swing as a necessity. Although I used the swing I had mentioned every day for the first 3 months (not exaggerating), once he started daycare he began to like another “swing”.

The day care Sebastian goes to has a bunch of these bouncers in the infant room. While the teachers are feeding the other babies or changing them, they’ll place the babies they can’t attend to in either the boppy’s on the mats or in this bouncer.

Sebastian loved this bouncer– he could spend an hour in it and be completely content. It doesn’t swing back and forth but it does bounce which can be soothing for babies, and it also vibrates and has little toys hanging from above. Every time I walk into the day care to pick up Sebastian, I see babies in their bouncers seeing who can reach the toys first. This one is a must have if you need an hour to get anything done around the house!

I hope this post gives you an idea of the things you need for month 3-6 and what is really worth getting. Don’t forget to leave a comment down below with things I may have missed and share this with a fellow mama!

xoxo
