5 Ways To Increase Blog Traffic

If you clicked on this post, chances are you’re looking for ways to increase blog traffic.

I’ve been blogging for about 3 years now and have learned many things along the way. From how to make your blog look “official”, to legal mistakes you don’t want to make, from making your first $100 to increasing blog traffic.

Now most, if not all the blogs that share blogging tips are from these bloggers who have been doing it for 8+ years and are making 6 figures from it. Although a lot of what I’ve learned about blogging came from their posts, I still couldn’t relate to them. I’d love to be making 6 figures from my blog, but realistically it’s not going to happen this year. And just because I did everything they said to in their post didn’t get me to 50,000 monthly views.

Coming from a small blogger, I wanted to share realistic ways to increase blog traffic to your small blog. I’ve finally reached the 10,000 monthly views mark and it honestly only took a little less than 3 months of dedication and consistency. Blogging is not as easy as people make it seem, but it is most definitely worth it and can be a great source of income.

5 Ways To Increase Blog Traffic

increase blog traffic with pinterest

Pinterest

My main source of traffic is from Pinterest- more than 80% of my traffic is coming from Pinterest! Pinterest is the most underrated platform used to market your site and/or products. There are 335 MILLION people on Pinterest- all looking for inspiration or answers (to which you might answer in a blog post).

Some tips I have for using Pinterest as one of the ways to increase blog traffic

–Create amazing graphics. Grab the readers attention with straight to the point captions, use high quality images, put your website/branding on it, use alt text and a keyword rich description and title.

–Be consistent. Pinterest favors accounts that are constantly pinning. Whether it be manually or through tailwind (I use tailwind and have 25 pins going out daily), having pins going out frequently will increase your monthly views on Pinterest therefore bringing in more blog views.

–Followers don’t matter. Focus less on Pinterest followers and more on monthly views. With only 700 Pinterest followers, I have around 400k monthly Pinterest views that brings me in about 7k monthly blog views. When companies want to do a collab with you they’re looking at the monthly views, not follower count- I’ve had great success in collabs with just 400k monthly views.

–Find a Pinterest strategy that works for you! Try out different strategies until you find one that works for you and don’t be afraid to switch it up if you’ve plateaued. I’ve taken many Pinterest courses and tried things on my own until I found one that’s been working for me recently.

Instagram

If you have the swipe up feature in your Instagram stories, take advantage of them!! Post about your blog on stories and always include the link for easy access if you can. If you don’t have access to the swipe up feature utilize the space for a website in your bio!

I currently do not have the swipe up feature in my stories so I only advertise my url in my bio. However, what gets people to click on that link is my IG stories.

Whenever I post on the blog I always create a few story slides to share on stories about the post. I grab snippets of the post I think will lure in readers and use that in my stories. I also create an “incase you missed it” or “recent blog posts” graphics to share on my stories every other week. All my story graphics are created on Canva!

SEO

Definitely one of the harder ways to increase blog traffic but will be worth in the long run! If there’s a course to invest in I would say any that helps with SEO is the one to take.

For those who do not know, SEO is search engine optimization… aka organic traffic from search engines! I had one blog post rank #1 on google and it brought Me at least 3k monthly views from google alone.

Some tips I have for using SEO as one of the ways to increase blog traffic

–Yoast SEO! If available, use the plugin Yoast SEO. I use the free version so no need to upgrade to premium. This plugin helps you in creating a focus key phrase, an SEO title, and a meta description which all helps in ranking high on google! It also has an SEO analysis where it’ll guide you in the content of your post (let’s you know if you need more keywords, if you have enough images with alt text, and if your title is good enough for search engines). Highly recommend using this plugin!

–Research before writing a blog post. Hate to break it to you, but people do not care about you. Don’t make your post about you and instead write with the intent of answering someone’s question. I highly recommend downloading the Keywords Everywhere extension- it shows how many hits a month whatever you search in google gets per month. You want to write about something that has a few thousand hits rather than one that has millions of hits- it’ll be extremely difficult for your post to rank 1st when there’s millions of competition!

Self Promotion- TALK ABOUT YOUR BLOG!

I wish I had done this from day 1 of my blog. We tend to only want to share our success but very rarely the journey. When I first started this blog, I told NO ONE. I was scared I wasn’t successful enough and that people would think I’m wasting my time (let’s face it- no one really understands the whole blogging thing unless they’re a blogger).

After 2 years of blogging, I realized that I truly don’t care what my “friends and family” think of my blog. The worst thing that could happen after sharing about it is they won’t go on to read it and I wouldn’t get those views- the same outcome as not sharing about it.

I started sharing my blog on my personal Facebook and Instagram and to my surprise I started getting views! They might have gone onto my blog for more curiosity than support but ya girl still got ad money so no complaints over here.

Getting comfortable sharing your blog with friends and family can be nerve wrecking but it’s one of the easiest ways to increase blog traffic!

Content

Last but not least, creating high quality content will always bring your blog traffic! The quality of your post will determine if the reader will browse through your site and check out your other posts. There’s this misconception that the more blog posts you have, the more money or the more views your blog will get but that certainly is not true.

Not only will good quality, lengthy posts do well SEO-wise, but it’ll set you up for success whether that be for a product/service sale or another subscriber to your email list. Readers see that you’re not just wasting their time and your in fact providing valuable knowledge.

These 5 ways to increase blog traffic is basically the only ways I’ve been able to increase my views to 10,000/month. What are some ways you’ve brought traffic to your blog?
